AI Literacy for Librarians: From Avoidance to Stewardship

Artificial intelligence is already reshaping how information is created, filtered, and trusted. Embedded in search engines, research tools, and everyday patron workflows, AI is influencing how our communities learn, decide, and act. Yet many librarians remain uncertain about how deeply they need to engage.

This session argues that AI literacy is no longer optional—it is a core professional responsibility. Participants will explore practical evaluation strategies, ethical considerations, and the library’s evolving role in AI education and governance. Rather than focusing on tools or trends, this presentation equips librarians to move from hesitation to informed leadership in an AI-mediated world.

🔥 📢 Bonus: 🔥 📢 This tutorial comes with an optional AI Literacy Field Journal & Facilitator Guide Add-On. Enhance your staff’s AI Literacy with a 30-day guided field journal and companion facilitator guide designed to support hands-on exploration, reflection, and real-world application.
