SUMMARY:NEFLIN: Accessibility Toolkit: Practical Steps for Inclusive Library Websites
DESCRIPTION:Depending on the size of your community\, your website must be accessible by either April 2026 (for communities with 50\,000 or more persons) or April 2027 (for communities with fewer than 50\,000 persons or those in a special district).  \nAccessibility doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Drawing on a recent project that involved reviewing and correcting multiple library websites\, this session will highlight common barriers and show how to address them with practical\, achievable steps.  \nAttendees will learn about tools for testing accessibility\, simple adjustments that make a big impact\, and strategies for building accessibility into everyday workflows. You’ll leave with a practical checklist and actionable steps to make your website more welcoming and usable for all. \nPresenters: Diana Silveira and Lindsay O’Neill  \n\n\n\nDiana Silveira is the President of Novare Library Services\, where she works with libraries and consortia to improve technology\, staff development\, and user experience. She develops training programs\, creates accessible websites\, and provides practical strategies that help libraries better serve their users.\n\n\n\nLindsay O’Neill is the principal instructional designer and consultant of Lindsay O’Neill Consulting LLC. She is a professional speaker and educator that specializes in online pedagogy and accessibility. She holds a Master of Education as well as a Master of Library and Information Science and has 15 years of experience in developing learner-centered experiences. Lindsay is faculty in Learning Design and Technology at University of San Diego and a doctoral student in education at Arizona State University. Her research focuses on student use of generative AI in graduate education.
