Generative AI in the Library

In this webinar, Lauren Hays will lead a practical session about generative AI (e.g. ChatGPT and Bard). The focus of the webinar will be how generative AI can be incorporated into library staff work flows and how librarians should be discussing generative AI with patrons.
The session will be interactive and practical. As this is a topic where everyone is learning, attendees will have time to share ideas they have for using the technology.
Learning outcomes:
Attendees will
· discuss generative AI (including ChatGPT) and its impact on libraries
· identify ways to positively incorporate generative AI into library workflows
· share ideas for how to discuss generative AI with patrons
Presenter: Lauren Hayes
Lauren Hays, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Instructional Technology at the University of Central Missouri. Previously, she was the Instructional and Research Librarian at MidAmerica Nazarene University in Olathe, KS where she enjoyed teaching and being a member of her institution’s Faculty Development Committee. Her professional interests include the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, information literacy, digital literacy, educational technology, and academic development. On a personal note, she loves dogs, traveling, and home.
