FLW: Building and Sustaining a Volunteer Program for your Library: Lessons Learned
March 29 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Do Space has been open since 2015 and, from day one, has relied on volunteers to assist us in providing services to the public. From the initial inrush of volunteers when Do Space was new to today’s “new normal.” Do Space’s volunteer program has had its ups and downs. Join Technology Manager Michael Sauers and Volunteer Coordinator Nathalie Hoffman as they share their story and the lessons they’ve learned running a volunteer program at Do Space.
Presenters: Nathalie Hoffman and Michael Sauers Nathalie Hoffman
Nathalie considers herself an organizer, collaborator, and problem solver – all of which contribute to her role as Do Space’s Volunteer Coordinator! With experience being a volunteer herself in community efforts, she uses that perspective to connect with others.
Michael is the Technology Manager for Do Space in Omaha, NE. Michael has been training librarians in technology for the past twenty-five years and has also been a public library trustee, a bookstore manager for a library friends group, a reference librarian, serials cataloger, a technology consultant, and a bookseller since earning his MLS in 1995 from the University at Albany.
